IONA's Artix Powers Aepona's Universal Service Platform
Aepona's Standards-based Service Delivery Platform Speeds Time to Market for Telecommunications Carriers
DUBLIN, Ireland & WALTHAM, Mass. - Jan. 9, 2007- IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in distributed service-oriented architecture (SOA) infrastructure solutions for performance-demanding IT environments, today announced that Aepona, the leading supplier of products and solutions for the Service Network to telecoms operators globally, has selected Artix™, IONA's Extensible Enterprise Service Bus (ESB). Artix provides crucial, standards-based SOA enablement capabilities for Aepona's Universal Service Platform, allowing Tier 1 operators to more easily offer new services to customers, independent of underlying network and application resources.
Aepona selected Artix following a comprehensive review of available middleware and SOA-enablement technology. In addition to support for the standards driving today's telecommunications industry, such as Parlay/X, Artix demonstrated a strong capability to deliver the performance, scalability and high availability requirements of Tier 1 operators. Artix is being used to expose a diverse and complex set of interfaces found throughout the multi-vendor IT environments typical of the telecommunications industry. The use of Artix in the Universal Service Platform will help Aepona's customers simplify the deployment of new services and speed time to market.
"Artix uniquely provides scalability and qualities of service demanded by network operators as they begin to launch critical new revenue generating services from their networks," said Kieran Dalton, CTO, Aepona. "Artix is a technology neutral product able to support the wide set of standards found in our customers' IT environments, and when combined with IONA's expertise in the telecommunications industry, Artix was the obvious choice."
"The telecommunications industry is an early adopter of SOA due to the distributed nature of telecom environments, coupled with the requirement to offer competitive new services to subscribers on a timely basis, at significantly lower costs." said Peter Zotto, CEO, IONA Technologies. "We are pleased to be delivering Artix, our differentiated distributed SOA enablement solution, to Aepona to meet the demanding performance requirements of their customers."
