IONA PARTNERS WITH NS SOLUTIONS TO DELIVER SERVICE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE TO CUSTOMERS
Leading Japanese Systems Integrator Chooses Artix Extensible ESB to Provide Integration Capabilities for Customers' Legacy Migration
DUBLIN, Ireland & WALTHAM, Mass. - November 9, 2005 - IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, and NS Solutions Corporation, Japan's leading system integrator, today announced a strategic partnership to deliver Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) deployments. Artix?, IONA's extensible Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), has been selected as the integration foundation on which NS Solutions will deploy SOA-based systems for its customers. The two companies will participate in joint sales, marketing and technology activities to promote SOA built on Artix as an efficient and cost-effective means to incorporate legacy systems into new business and computing initiatives.
"The successful application of SOA to mission critical systems requires the ability to combine loosely coupled technologies that rely on Web services and distributed components with an organization's existing, tightly-coupled legacy applications; the adoption of standards-based technologies; and the ability to conduct a phased implementation," explained Koichi Kitamura, Executive Director, NS Solutions Corporation. "IONA's Artix fulfils all these requirements and reduces the risks, costs and time normally associated with complex integration challenges."
As an extensible ESB, Artix offers systems integrators such as NS Solutions a powerful technology for incorporating existing legacy systems into modern computing environments, including SOA. Artix provides multi-platform and multi-protocol support, including native support for CICS and IMS on the mainframe, and support for the enterprise qualities of service (QoS) required by mission-critical systems. Artix takes advantage of distributed computing principles and employs the use of smart endpoints, enabling an incremental deployment strategy that reduces the risk associated with a "big bang" approach to integration and system migration.
"The tremendous experience NS Solutions has in the construction, operation and maintenance of mission critical systems, and in reengineering legacy systems, makes them a natural partner for IONA," said Katsuhiko Kuroki, Managing Director, IONA Japan. "We are confident that NS Solutions' outstanding technical capabilities combined with the proven success of IONA's Artix in extending legacy systems will provide the next generation of system infrastructure our customers require to respond successfully to both the business and technical challenges they face."
