IONA AND METASECURE PARTNER TO DELIVER HIGHLY SECURE SOA

Artix Selected as ESB of Choice by Leading Secure Integration Company

DUBLIN, Ireland & WALTHAM, Mass & HOUSTON, Texas - August 29, 2005 - IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, and MetaSecure, an IT consulting and secure integration development company, today announced that the two companies have entered into a comprehensive technology, marketing and sales agreement.

Under terms of the strategic partnership, IONA and MetaSecure will engage in joint sales and marketing activities with the intent to deliver secure Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) deployments and other projects that require seamless and secure Web services-based integration and interoperability of disparate systems. In addition, MetaSecure has named Artix?, IONA's extensible Enterprise Service Bus (ESB), as its ESB of choice to support secure SOA projects for its customers.
