IONA DEMONSTRATES VALUABLE JAVA AND .NET INTEROPERABILITY

At 2005 JavaOne Conference, IONA Showcases Benefits of Artix to Java Developers Working in Heterogeneous Environments

SAN FRANCISCO, CA. JavaOne Worldwide Developers Conference - June 27, 2005 - IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ: IONA), a world leader in high-performance integration solutions for mission-critical IT environments, will demonstrate how the company's Artix? Extensible Enterprise Service Bus (ESB) can be used to deliver powerful interoperability between disparate systems and applications built on J2EE? and the Microsoft® .NET Framework.

IONA's demo will show how Artix adds significant value to enterprises that have made a strategic investment in J2EE, yet at the same time must incorporate systems built on other technologies such as the Microsoft .NET Framework. 2005 JavaOnesm Conference attendees will see demonstrations of how Artix, through IONA's Artix Connect, a Microsoft .NET-connected Web service, can facilitate Java/.NET interoperability. Demonstrations will take place throughout the event at booth #1700.

Further, William Henry, an enterprise architect with IONA, will be speaking as a member of the Industry Panel "Java? and .NET: Interoperability Challenges and Rewards" scheduled for Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at 4:00 pm PDT.

IONA's demonstration brings together Microsoft's .NET Framework, IONA's Artix Connect, a Microsoft .NET-connected Web service and several parts of Sun's Java Enterprise System (JES) to highlight how IONA's Artix enables .NET applications to natively, and with high performance and quality of service, interoperate with various Java technologies such as JMS, J2EE and JBI.

As an extensible ESB, Artix is best suited for use by IT organizations facing highly complex enterprise integration challenges, particularly mission critical projects that demand high performance and outstanding quality of service. These organizations are also faced with ever-evolving business requirements that demand flexible and agile enterprise systems able to interoperate independently of underlying technology, and consequently preserve and maximize previous, and future, IT investments.

"The ongoing movement toward modern computing architectures such as SOA have forced IT organizations to evolve and find new ways to make their disparate systems work together to wring new business value out of existing assets," said Eric Newcomer, CTO, IONA. "It's not uncommon to find enterprises that have turned to both J2EE and the .NET Framework to support new application development and must now find effective ways to get the best of both worlds in support of new business objectives. With Artix, IONA is making it easier than ever to bridge the applications built on these two different platforms and preserve both platforms' highest value propositions."
