Additionally, IONA's iPortal Application Server version 1.3 features the following enhancements:

  • Seamless EJB and CORBA interoperability using the industry's most advanced CORBA infrastructure
  • Complete mainframe connectivity, where CICS/IMS applications written in Cobol and PL/1 can be accessed seamlessly through enterprise beans running in IONA's J2EE certified-compliant container
  • Support of management and administration using JMX standard
  • Support for the dynamic re-deployment of containers, allowing rapid replacement of application server logic in 24-by-7 operating systems
  • New features including lightweight pure Java™ Transaction Manager and HTTP server support for deployed J2EE technology-based web applications

"Receiving J2EE certification underscores IONA's commitment to supporting open standards that protect our customer's investments," said Barry Morris, IONA's CEO. Recently, industry analysts recognized IONA as a leading platform provider for integrating, building and deploying enterprise portal applications, and today's certification from Sun further illustrates this leadership."
