IONA UNVEILS NEW PRODUCTS AND PARTNERSHIPS AT JAVA ONE IN SAN FRANCISCO
IONA Joins Sun's Java Community Process, Demonstrates the iPortal Server™, Announces Enhancements to iPortal Suite™ Products and Details Partnerships with SAIC and Tek-Tools
San Francisco, CA - June 6, 2000 - IONA, the Enterprise Portal Company™, (NASDAQ: IONA), today announced a series of product enhancements and partnerships at the JavaOne Developer Conference in San Francisco.
IONA announced its participation in Sun's Java Community Process Executive Committee. The company also announced its participation in the final specification and reference implementation of Sun's Java Management Extensions. And IONA announced today its intent to distribute Sun's Forte for Java Community Edition to iPortal Application Server™ customers.
In addition to participating in announcements with Sun Microsystems, IONA released the details of several enhancements to its EJB/J2EE iPortal Application Server, including:
- An agreement with LOOX Software to enhance the graphical user interface of the iPortal Application Server to make it easier for developers to assemble, develop and deploy EJB applications.
- The integration of Tek-Tool's Enterprise KAWA™ development tool into the iPortal Application Server to provide a distributed debugging and code generation process for the packaging and deployment of Java entity and session beans.
- Participation in Flashline.com's Component Certification Program™ to provide downloadable EJB components to IONA customers directly from the iPortal Application Server user interface.
IONA announced today Orbix 2000 Version 1.1 for Java™, which adds Java functionality to Orbix 2000 to provide customers with an equivalent set of features for developing Java and C++ CORBA applications.
Complementing the demonstrations of the Orbix 2000 and iPortal Application Server enhancements, IONA will demonstrate the iPortal Server - which is the soon-to-be-released presentation and content management component of the iPortal Suite. This demo will show customers how to build enterprise portal solutions with the iPortal Server, the iPortal Application Server and Orbix 2000.

- Progress® Software is presenting its JMS Messaging with SonicMQ.™ At the recent IONA World event, Progress and IONA announced plans to incorporate the SonicMQ technology into the iPortal Application Server.
- Inline Software is demonstrating Rational Rose for Java and VisualCafe integration through InLine Standard.
IONA executives Simon Pepper and Niall Byrne are presenting on Wednesday, June 7, at 4:00 PM, delivering a session entitled, "Using Enterprise JavaBeans™ Architecture-based Components to Interact with CORBA Systems." This session will address integrating legacy information systems across heterogeneous environments, and leveraging these systems to meet today's information needs.
