Thanks for visiting my Web page!

I'll also post information about the standards organizations IONA participates in soon.

I am fascinated by the application of technology to solve problems. It started with the conversion of batch to online systems in the 70s and 80s. It was so much productive and efficient to immediately catch data input errors, or to be able to immediately inform a customer of a backorder, than it was to wait overnight for the batch of requests to be processed. Today of course we take the online world for granted and get annoyed when we have to wait for an email response, or to refresh a browser page.

My major interest today is to help create the best standards and technology for service-oriented architecture (SOA). SOA promises to solve many IT problems. SOA can improve data sharing across departmental and organizational boundaries, ease integration among disparate applications and technology, and last but not least, provide a foundation for the application of scientific and industrial methods that will finally take software from a craft industry to mass production. The productivity and efficiency benefits will be nothing less than historic if we can achieve this.
