Orbix 6 CORBA: Administration and Deployment
Target Population: People who are experienced in administering application systems in a distributed environment.
Pre-requisites: Interest in network application system management is essential. Exposure to the management of the network systems for Internet applications (Web servers, ftp servers, client-server databases, CORBA) is highly advantageous. Basic understanding of distributed software systems (DCE, Application Servers, CORBA) is desirable.
Duration/Format: 3 days. This is a course involving lectures, and hands-on exercises, delivered by an experienced IONA Orbix instructor.
Course Objectives:
On the completion of the course, the participants will:
- Have a basic knowledge of the implementation of CORBA objects with the Portable Object Adapter (POA).
- Describe the features of Orbix and how they can be used.
- Install Orbix.
- Configure an Orbix environment.
- Manage an Orbix environment.
- Deploy Orbix client and server applications.
- Configure and manage load balancing and redundancy.
- Manage logging and troubleshooting.

- Overview of high availability in Orbix: clustering, fault tolerance, and load balancing
- Clustering Orbix services and server applications
