Multi-Protocol Web Services
Artix Encompass supports SOAP over the following transports:
- HTTP/S
- MQSeries
- Tuxedo
- Tibco
- IIOP
- JMS
This allows organizations to build Web Services applications that take advantage of their existing enterprise middleware backbones. Furthermore, these middleware technologies can be used to provide enterprise Qualities of Service (QoS) (e.g., reliability, load balancing, transactional queuing), which cannot be achieved simply using HTTP. While most vendors support SOAP over HTTP plus their own favorite middleware, no vendor supports the full spectrum of enterprise middleware that Artix Encompass supports.
From the developer's perspective, Artix Encompass provides seamless support for multi-protocol Web services. By using C++ proxies and stubs generated from the WSDL service contract, the C++ clients can invoke services and C++ service providers can process service requests without calling any transport-level APIs. Rather, the service invocations are mapped to the underlying transports based on settings in the binding portion of the WSDL service contract.
